WUDL welcomes Dr. Omar Price as Program Coordinator to our growing team!

Hello All,

I am Dr. Omar S. Price, a native of Saginaw, Michigan and a graduate of Alabama A&M University, University of Louisville, and Morgan State University, respectively. I am excited to officially join the staff of the Washington Urban Debate League as a program coordinator! I come with a wealth of diverse experiences that allows me to bring a unique perspective to the league. That along with witnessing the impact the league has had on students motivates me everyday to help maintain the level of excellence the league has already established and to help expand the league’s reach.

Since 2015, I have worked with the league as a coach, a volunteer, and Prince George’s County Debate League Coordinator. I have seen first hand the amazing impact debate, in general, and the Washington Urban Debate League, specifically, has had in the lives of students in Washington, DC and Maryland. I look forward to helping the league expand to impact even more students.

During my time coaching in the Washington Urban Debate League I was awarded WUDL Coach of the Year in 2018, coached two WUDL Debaters of the Year, two National Urban Debater of the Year finalists in 2019 and the 2019 National Urban Debater of the Year winner, three teams to qualify for the National Urban Debate League Championship Tournament, and twice won the WUDL Sweepstakes Award.

Prior to and while volunteering and working with the league, I have served as a secondary teacher in both middle and high school for eight years and as an assistant professor of History at Alabama A&M University for two years. Through these experiences I have performed many roles outside of teaching in the classroom. I am committed to putting these diverse experiences to use for the students of the Washington Urban Debate League.
