WUDL and the Presidential Election

Being in Washington during election season is always a very interesting experience. Suited staffers and consultants are in a little bit more of a hurry than usual, some morning commutes are a little more tense, and sports bars have CNN election coverage instead of football (probably good for our democracy). The WUDL is hardly immune to these trends, with the election being a popular topic with our students, and many students in the varsity division using politics DAs.

The Washington Urban Debate League, partnering with the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL), is excited to host the national finals for a tournament centered around some of the most contentious issues of the election cycle. Flip the Debate brings substance to the discussion of several of the election's most pressing concerns, the minimum wage, the trans pacific partnership, gun control, and ISIS.

On Nov. 3rd, at the Reagan Foundation (1455 Pennsylvania Ave) the WUDL will host students from our affiliates LAMDL (Los Angeles) and NYUDL (New York) for the final round of the tournament, starting at 5:30. The competition will be followed by a reception, with the whole program lasting about 3 hours. This is an exciting chance to support urban debate nation-wide and here in Washington, and see what some of tomorrow's leaders have to say about the day's most pressing issues. We hope to see you all there.
