WUDL Goes Digital!

As the Corona virus brings many basic facets of society to a halt, students have gone home to continue their education online. The WUDL is following them online, launching an array of weekly debate programs, all virtually though Google Classrooms and Zoom. Primarily focused on the 2020-2021 debate topic, Criminal Justice Reform, the programs include book clubs, live debates, multi-media exploration of the upcoming topic, guided readings, and evaluation of speeches recorded at home. WUDL (Corona) Cancels March Tournaments

WUDL Community, On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, the office of Mayor Bowser released a D.C. Health Advisory that recommended all non-essential mass gatherings should be postponed or cancelled. They recommend this advisory be in place until March 31st. Subsequent changes have moved spring break to next week and cancelled school in D.C. and Maryland for the near future. Based on this health advisory DCPS has cancelled events non-essential district-wide school events and we suspect other non-DCPS schools will do the same. WUDL Travel Team Has Strong Finish To Season

This past weekend, the Washington Urban Debate League Travel Team ended its season in style at the Lakeland-Westchester Invitational. Hosted at Lakeland High School in upstate New York, the tournament drew in an array of high quality competitors from across the northeast. The WUDL was represented by five teams, including many of our seniors concluding their regional careers. Seniors Kevin Tezi/Munyang Tengen and Kaitlyn McClinton/Elizabeth Ballah had their best travel tournaments yet, finishing with a .500 record.
